The book is presented as the "authentic" notebook of a 1920s naturalist. Inside are sketches and notes from a fact-finding mission to the Great Barrier Reef. Throughout the book, envelopes containing die-cut animal pieces are glued to the pages. Each book contains eight envelopes so kids can build the eight animals described in the book. Attached to the inside back cover is a diorama for kids to punch out and put together as a backdrop for their animal models.
